Playas del Coco – Located in the northern Pacific of Costa Rica, Playas del Coco is an exquisite location for both tourist and locals. Its beautiful beaches mixed with businesses and shopping which make Playas del Coco an amazing destination for visitors. Playa Hermosa – Located a few kilometers North of Playas del Coco, this area is less busy town. Loved by people who want to get away. There are a few businesses around the main street of town. It has some hotels and restaurants, but most shopping and business has to be conducted out of Playas del Coco. Real Estate options are not as varied as in Playas del Coco, this town is mostly composed of family homes and luxury estates. Some important developments like Hermosa del Mar, Palo Alto and Hermosa Heights have been built in Playa Hermosa. Sometimes it is confused with Playa Hermosa, Puntarenas, but the waves in Playa Hermosa, Guanacaste are not as strong and good for surfing as those in the one in Puntarenas.
Playa Panama – Is located in the Papagayo Gulf next to secluded beaches like Playa Bonita, Playa Buena and Playa Arenilla. It is also surounded by a protected Mangroove which guarantees that there won´t be much construction near the shore. It is growing to become a luxury real estate destination. The views from the surounding hills are out of this world. There is almost no shopping or restaurants in Playa Panama but it is about 2 miles from Playa Panama and 10 miles from Playas del Coco. Costa Rican hotel brands like Mangroove and Casa Conde del Mar operate beach front hotels in Playa Panama.
Golfo Papagayo – Papagayo is one of the growing and developing areas of Guanacaste. It is located about 30 kilometers from the Liberia International Airport. Inside the Papagayo Peninsula Project you could find multi million dollar homes, an Aaron Palmer Golf Course, and exclusive luxury resorts like Andaz Hotel, Four Seasons Hotel and Exclusive Resorts. There are lots for sales around the golf course or in the nearby hills and beaches. Also the new Papagayo Marina is located here. Papagayo Gulf is a must to visit when in Costa Rica.
Ocotal – Ocotal is located South of Playas del Coco. Except for a few restaurants and hotels there is not much business and shopping going on in the area, what makes it perfect for those looking for a peaceful place to live but close enough to shopping, businesses and dining. In the last few year, from the hills of Ocotal one can spot whales and dolphins passing through on their migration routes. The black sand beach is beautiful and offers a perfect relaxation spot for visitors and locals.
Liberia – Liberia is the capital city of the Guanacaste Province. Most governement institutions and banks have their regional offices in this town. There are many shopping stores and restaurants. All road traffic going from Nicaragua to San Jose or vice versa have to go through Liberia. Almost all the other towns in Guanacaste have direct bus routes to Liberia, so this makes Liberia an ideal place for business in Guanacaste. It is close by to waterfalls and the Rincon De La Vieja Volcano and hot springs.
Lake Arenal – Lake Arenal is a big man made lake. The town of old Arenal was flooded by the Costa Rica government to build a damn to produce hidroelectric power. Of course, all the inhabitants of the old town were relocated. Lake Arenal is surrounded by towns like Tilaran, Tronadora, Nuevo Arenal and Fortuna. It is located in the mountains of Guanacaste where the altitude produces a cool weather and lots of winds that are now used to produce energy by using windmills. It is one of the most beautiful country sides in Costa Rica. Some people like to have a beach property for the cooler months and move to a country farm in the hotter months of March and April, Tilaran is close enough to the beach towns to allow for this type of investments.
